Pacific salmon, also known as Chinook or King Salmon, average 10 to 20 pounds in size, but 30 to 40 punders are not unusual. They are called landlocked salmon since they mature for three years in freshwater and return to the river to spawn and die. The salmon enter the river to spawn in September and the season runs through November. There are four key factors you must follow in catching these fish. Learn something about the habits and nature of the fish; have proper recommended equipment and warm clothes; seek help in locating a guide and possibly a good river map at a local tackle shop; and finally, learn the technique of "drift fishing" a deadly technique outlined in this fishing video.
